Former President Muhammadu Buhari visited Maiduguri, Borno State, on Tuesday to offer condolences to the local government and citizens in the wake of the recent flooding.

This was revealed by Buhari’s spokesperson, Garba Shehu, in a statement posted on X.com on Tuesday.

Shehu claims that the catastrophic flooding happened when Buhari was on vacation.

According to reports, Senator Ali Ndume, Governor Babagana Zulum, and other high-ranking government officials welcomed Buhari when he arrived.

The statement read, “Former President Muhammadu Buhari has just landed in Maiduguri, Borno State, welcomed warmly by Governor Babagana Zulum, Senator Ali Ndume, and other political and government leaders in the state.

“The former president was away on vacation when the state suffered the recent devastating floods, and he is here to personally commiserate with the Shehu of Borno, the government, and the people of the state following the tragic incident.”

According to reports in September, the terrible flood in Maiduguri affected almost one million people, displacing at least 414,000 and killing thirty.

Over N17 billion is reportedly donated to the Borno State administration by the Federal administration and other sources.
