JUST IN: ISRAEL BLOWS UP HOUSES ON LEBANON’S BORDER – LEBANON MEDIA
The Israeli army detonated explosives concealed inside homes in three border villages that had been severely damaged by the Israel-Hezbollah conflict on Friday, according to Lebanese official media.
More than a month into an Israeli ground incursion intended to drive the Iran-backed organisation away from the border, Hezbollah claims it is fighting Israeli forces in the region.
āSince this morning, the Israeli enemyās army has been carrying out bombing operations inside the villages of Yaroun, Aitaroun and Maroun al-Ras in the Bint Jbeil area, with the aim of destroying residential homes there,ā the official National News Agency said.
Following Hezbollah’s claim that it targeted Israeli troops in the border region, Israeli forces also carried out a raid on the neighbouring town of Bint Jbeil, according to NNA.
Hezbollah claimed to have “ambushed” Israeli ground forces trying to enter Yaroun on Thursday.
Since Wednesday, the Iran-backed group has claimed eight attacks against Israeli troops near Maroun al-Ras.
The explosions on Friday are the most recent in a series of comparable events that have affected the border region.
Last month, Israeli military demolished structures in at least seven border towns, according to NNA.
Massive explosions tore through Mais al-Jabal, destroying houses in the process, according to footage confirmed by AFP on Monday.
Last month, footage from Israel’s Channel 12 seemed to show one of its presenters in the village of Aita al-Shaab, integrated with soldiers, blowing up a building.
Since late September, when it shifted its focus from combating Hamas in Gaza to guarding its northern border, Israel has been at war with Hezbollah of Lebanon.
After intensifying its air assault, it dispatched ground troops into the southern part of the nation.
This followed a year of cross-border interactions with Hezbollah, which has claimed to be assisting Palestinian terrorists from Hamas who are battling Israel in Gaza.
