DESMOND ELLIOT SPEAKS OUT AGAINST GAY ALLEGATIONS
Desmond Elliot, an actor and politician, has denied being gay, calling the accusation a flimsy PR gimmick.
Elliot responded to the reports in a recent interview with TVC, saying he won’t believe baseless charges.
He made it clear that he was more concerned with making a meaningful difference in people’s lives than with engaging in pointless speculation.
He said that as long as people follow the law and respect the rights of others, they should be allowed to make their own decisions.
He said: “Why would I respond to allegations made against me when it does not affect my life either way?
“Secondly, it is an opinion that has been conceived, and I do not think it is necessary for me to confirm whether it is true or not; as long as I’m affecting people positively, I’m good.
“If you feel you identify as something, as long as it is within the law, that is your choice. People do not have to accept it, but do what you wish.”
“So let me say right here, I am straight. You could not find anyone straighter than me.
“If some people want to enjoy themselves through publicity, that is up to them but I do not care. Do what you wish and enjoy yourself, but do it within the law and with consideration for your neighbours.”
A blog article that identified a number of well-known Nigerian celebrities as gay is the source of the issue concerning Elliot’s sexual orientation.
