NPA CONFIRMS ZERO CASUALTIES IN APAPA TERMINAL FIRE INCIDENT
According to the management of the Nigerian Ports Authority, the fire incident that occurred at the APMT Apapa Terminal on Saturday did not result in any fatalities.
The NPA revealed in a statement on Saturday that its firefighters, working with other sister organizations at the port, professionally put out the fire.
On Saturday, one of the APMT cranes at the Apapa terminal caught fire, but it was extinguished before it could harm other port infrastructure.
The NPA spokesperson, Ikechukwu Onyemekara, while expressing his appreciation to the NPA firemen for their professionalism, thanked God that no lives were lost in the incident, “nor were any other facilities affected by the fire before it was stopped.”
Ikechukwu promised stakeholders and port users that the protection of people and property in Nigerian ports will remain a top priority for the NPA’s present management, which is headed by Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho.
The agency is also trying to make it easier to do business at the ports, he added.
