NIGERIAN SINGER JAYWON APOLOGISES TO AYRA STARR AFTER GRAMMY SNUB
Singer Jaywon has expressed regret to his younger coworker Ayra Starr for allegedly making fun of her Grammy rejection.
The dispute behind Ayra Starr’s exclusion from the 67th Grammy nominees was recently revealed.
Many interpreted Jaywon’s photo of herself holding two Grammy awards, which she uploaded online, as a swipe at Ayra Starr, with whom he was involved in an online feud.
Facing backlash, Jaywon clarified his intentions.
“If you see Ayra Starr, tell her I’m sorry she wasn’t nominated for this year’s Grammys. I’m a huge fan of her music, and I believe she’s one of the best female vocalists Africa has,” he wrote.
Jaywon underlined his support for uplifting musicians rather than bringing them down as a Recording Academy voting member.
