(UPDATE) N70,000 MINIMUM WAGE: ZAMFARA GOVT UNCOVERS 20 GHOST MEDICAL DOCTORS
The Zamfara State Government has uncovered 20 medical doctors listed as ghost workers during an ongoing verification exercise aimed at implementing the new minimum wage of N70,000 for civil servants.
Liman announced that the full implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage would commence once the verification exercise concludes at the end of November.
In addition to the 20 ghost doctors, Liman indicated that more ghost workers from other ministries had been identified, with a full report to be released after the exercise.
He noted that Zamfara currently has a workforce of 34,000, excluding local government employees. The committee aims to ensure that an accurate and genuine workforce count is presented to the governor for wage implementation.
“I assure that, upon receiving the committee’s report, the government will approve the full implementation of the new minimum wage,” Liman said.
The verification committee, led by Liman and including representatives from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), is working diligently to complete the exercise within the targeted timeline.
