LG POLLS: OGUN GOVT DECLARES FRIDAY AS PUBLIC HOLIDAY
The Ogun State Government has declared Friday as Public holiday ahead of the year 2024 local government elections in the state on Saturday, 16th November, 2024.
This was made known in a statement signed by the Head of Service, Kehinde O. Onasanya, on Thursday.
The Statement reads, “As you are already aware that the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission will conduct elections into the positions of Chairmen of the Twenty (20) Local Government Areas and Councillors of the Two Hundred and Thirty-six (236) wards of Ogun State on Saturday, 16th November, 2024.”
“I wish to inform you that His excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, Governor of Ogun State has magnanimously approved Friday, 15th November, 2025, as a public holiday to enable civil public servants who desire to travel to their various local government for the purpose of performing their civic duty do so without any hitch.”
“This is in line with the principle of inclusiveness and participatory democracy of the present administration.”
“In this regard, Permanent Secretaries and other Head of Government Agencies are hereby requested to strictly comply with the constraints of this circular.”
