#ONDODECIDES2024: LAWMAKER COMMENDS PEACEFUL ELECTION

Read Time:1 Minute, 14 Second

The lawmaker representing Irele/Okitipupa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Jimi Odimayo, has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission for the peaceful conduct of Saturdayā€™s governorship election in Ondo State.

Odimayo, after casting his vote at his Legumare Unit 001, Anglican Primary School, Ward 3, Irele, in the Irele Local Government Area of the state, praised the efforts of the electoral commission in ensuring a smooth process.

The Chairman of the House Committee on Population stated, ā€œSo far, it has been peaceful, and our people are conducting themselves well. They are very enthusiastic about the election.

ā€œLet me commend INEC. Based on what I witnessed today, the commission has improved tremendously. The process was seamlessā€”it took just about two minutes for the BVAS machine to accredit me before voting.

ā€œThe turnout was impressive, and I want to commend our people for coming out in large numbers compared to what we saw during the 2023 general election.ā€

On his partyā€™s chances, the lawmaker expressed confidence and said, ā€œWe are going to win because we have worked for it. We are looking at a massive victory for the APC because we donā€™t have any challenges at all.

ā€œThis election is going to be a pointer to what to expect in 2027, and we want to assure our President, Bola Tinubu, that Ondo State is a home for massive votes.ā€

He did concede, though, that there was still room for improvement in subsequent elections.
