VIDEO: “I’M A ZIMBABWEAN AND I STILL ENVY YOU,” MUFTI MENK ON NAIRA DEVALUATION
Famous Islamic cleric, Mufti Ismail Menk, has shared his thoughts on Nigeria’s ongoing naira devaluation.
He made it known during his lecture at the 1Ummah Convention at the Eko Conference Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos.
Menk, a Zimbabwean who has experienced his own country’s economic struggles, compared Nigeriaās situation to Zimbabweās past currency crisis.
He said, āI still envy you. Because it is nowhere near what happened to our currency some time back.ā
“The next time I come here, the naira will be one to one (against the dollar).”
However, he acknowledged that the devaluation in Nigeria is still a serious issue, noting that it has caused many people to face tough economic challenges.
Menk, known for his wisdom on social issues, encouraged people to remain hopeful despite the difficult times. The naira has continued to lose value in recent months, with inflation and other economic pressures making life harder for many Nigerians.
