OPWS TROOPS ARREST KIDNAP SUSPECT IN TARABA
In the Lau local government area of Taraba state, troops from 6 Brigade Nigerian Army Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have apprehended a suspect in kidnapping.
According to reports, the suspect, Suleiman Ahmad, a resident of Bomanda village, planned the abduction of 20 members of the Lau local council and demanded more than N70 million from his victims.
According to a statement from the military, the suspect acknowledged in his confessional statement that he possesses an AK-47 gun, which he utilizes for his illegal activities.
During a follow-up operation on November 15, 2024, the military reportedly captured one of Ahmad’s collaborators and retrieved an AK-47 firearm from a hidden position.
The suspect, Hussaini, a suspected gunrunner, was arrested at his residence in the Mayo Dassa area of Lau LGA.
The troops said it remained steadfast in its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
