EX-MINISTER DIEZANI ALISON-MADUEKE SEEKS TO AMEND SUIT AGAINST EFCC
Diezani Alison-Madueke, a former petroleum minister, has challenged the order obtained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for the final forfeiture of her confiscated assets in an attempt to amend her suit before Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court Abuja.
The EFCC did not have any solicitors present for the resumed hearing.
Her attorney replied in the affirmative when Justice Ekwo asked him if he had received any processes from the anti-graft agency.
However, the attorney told the court that the commission had been properly served and that they had submitted a proposal to change its procedures.
In order to hear the motion to change their original procedure, Justice Ekwo then postponed the case to February 17, 2025.
The former minister had requested an extension of time to petition the court to have the EFCC’s public notice to hold a public sale of her property thrown aside.
She claimed that throughout the entire process that resulted in the orders for the sale of her land, she was not given a fair hearing.
However, the EFCC claimed that the majority of the depositions in Mrs. Alison-Madueke’s lawsuit were false.
It stated that the majority of the cases that ultimately resulted in the confiscation of the challenged property were heard at different periods and decided by the court, in contrast to her deposition in the affidavit.
