KADUNA VILLAGE HEAD, 14 OTHERS KIDNAPPED BY BANDITS
The village chief of Ungwan Babangida and fourteen other people were reportedly ambushed and abducted by bandits on Thursday night in Kauru Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
In a Friday phone interview with City Round, Dokan Karji youth leader Aminu Khalid verified the incident.
He claimed that using advanced weaponry, the terrorists broke into Ungwan Babangida Village at midnight, shooting intermittently from vantage points before robbing their victims.
This event occurred just 48 hours after four farmers in the Libere hamlet were abducted by bandits in the same LGA on Wednesday.
“Amongst the victims kidnapped in Ungwan Babangida were three women, and nine men including the village head of the community, identified as Babangida Sojiji,” Khalid said.
He added that some of the victims were two labourers who came for farming activities from Jigawa State and Ikara Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
“Kauru communities need serious military actions against these bandits who have occupied many villages and many breadwinners were gruesomely killed.
“Federal Government and security operatives must intensify effort to cripple the activities of these criminals who have made life difficult for villagers.”
Additionally, he praised vigilante organizations for their persistent efforts to stop banditry, claiming that they have stopped numerous attempts at kidnapping in some villages.
As of the time this story was made, Mansir Hassan, the state police public relations officer, declined to comment when approached about the incidents.
