Oladega Morenike, 65, was killed in an incident in Ogun State’s Ipokia Local Government Area after she was allegedly pushed to death by her neighbor, Abigail Bankole.

According to reports, the two ladies got into a brawl near Isunba Street in Ipokia at approximately 4:20 p.m. on Thursday.

The police claim that Bankole shoved Morenike, causing her to collapse after hitting her head on a wall.

In a statement released on Saturday, SP Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, revealed the event.

“On November 21, 2024, at about 6.20pm, Ibrahim Oladega, a resident of Isunba Street in Ipokia, reported an incident at the police station.

“He said that earlier that day, around 4.20pm, his mother, 65-year-old Oladega Morenike, had an argument with a neighbour, Abigail Bankole.

“This confrontation escalated into a fight during which the deceased was pushed, causing her to hit her head against a wall and collapse,” she said.

Upon receiving the report, police detectives were dispatched to the scene and found the victim lying on her back.

“A photograph was taken, and her body was transported to the General Hospital in Ipokia, where she was pronounced dead by a doctor. The body was subsequently moved to the mortuary at General Hospital, Ilaro, for an autopsy,” the statement added.

The alleged offender, Bankole, left the scene right away and is still at large.

Odutola affirmed that attempts are being made to capture her.

“Preliminary investigations are ongoing, and the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Abeokuta for further investigation,” she said.

As police step up attempts to apprehend the perpetrator, the tragedy has left the Ipokia community in disbelief
