
POLICE RETRIEVE STOLEN VEHICLE FROM LAGOS IN KWARA, ARREST TWO
Two suspects were reportedly apprehended by the Kwara State Police Command after they were discovered in possession of a stolen Toyota Camry.
The car with the license plate APP 443 CX, which was reported stolen in Lagos State, was discovered at a spare parts dealer’s store in the Ipata-Oloje neighborhood of Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, last Friday, according to a statement released by the command on Wednesday by its spokesperson, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi.
“Acting on intelligence received from a motor spare parts dealer in Ipata-Oloje, Ilorin, detectives apprehended two suspects on 22nd November 2024 at about 1800 hours.
“The suspects, Gabiyu Lawal (M, 43) of Babasoja, Gambari, Ilorin, and Ademola Waheed (M, 45) of Sango Road, Ilorin, were intercepted with the vehicle.
“During a thorough search of the car, a GSM number linked to the owner, Mr. Ajibade Abel of Badagry Road, Lagos, was found. Upon contact, Mr. Abel confirmed the vehicle had been stolen from a parking lot in Lagos and that the case had been reported at Area C Police Command, Surulere, Lagos.
“The suspects admitted purchasing the vehicle for a suspiciously low price of ₦400,000 and intended to resell it in Ilorin for ₦1,000,000.
“Further investigations are underway to identify other accomplices and unravel the full extent of their criminal activities,” the statement added.
The state commissioner of police, Mr. Victor Olaiya, praised the people for their alertness and asked them to keep working together to provide timely intelligence in order to make Kwara State safer, according to the PPRO.
