
GOV OTTI SYMPATHISES WITH VICTIMS OF ABA CATHOLIC FEAST TRAGEDY
The families of the victims of the Catholic feast procession, which reportedly lost five lives and injured numerous devout, have received condolences from Abia State Governor Alex Otti.
Since security personnel were accused of locking the church’s gates, it is thought that the event happened as a result of the Christ the King Cathedral being overcrowded.
In order to prevent such tragedies in the future, the governor promised that his administration will work with the Church.
Otti praised the government team and church leadership for their proactive efforts in giving medical care to the victims in a statement issued by his special adviser on media and publicity, Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma.

“The Abia State government received with sorrow and sadness the news of the death of some Catholic faithful during the annual Eucharistic Procession held at Christ the King Catholic Church, Aba.
“Im deeply pained by this unfortunate development and sends my condolences to the families of the deceased and the Church at large.
“I commend the government team and the Church leadership for their prompt response in providing medical support for the victims.”
To make sure that such a catastrophe doesn’t occur again, the governor pledged that the state government emergency team would collaborate with the church’s leadership to look into the stampede’s immediate and distant causes.
He prayed for the deceased’s souls to rest in peace and for the wounded to recover quickly.
According to reports, the hospital is still providing medical care to some of the injured, including children.
