POLICE WARN ABUJA RESIDENTS OF UPCOMING SECURITY DRILL AROUND TRAIN STATION
Residents of the Federal Capital Territory have been informed by the Nigeria Police Force that a crisis response simulation exercise is planned for Thursday, November 28, 2024.
The exercise, which was coordinated with the Office of the National Security Adviser, would be conducted from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. near Idu Train Station.
Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, said in a statement on Thursday that the exercise is a component of the Federal Government’s endeavors to improve security forces’ readiness to tackle national security challenges.
“In furtherance of efforts in combating all forms of crimes and criminality in Nigeria, the Federal Government has initiated a joint operation and training exercise to prepare security forces to respond appropriately and adequately to security threats in Nigeria.
“In this regard, the Office of the National Security Adviser in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, wishes to notify residents of the Federal Capital Territory and its environs that there will be a simulation exercise on crisis response around Idu Train Station on Thursday, 28th November 2024, from 9am to 2pm,” the statement read.
There will be loud explosions during the exercise, which will take place in a “controlled environment,” so residents are urged not to worry.
The exercise is intended to evaluate emergency response capabilities, the police informed the public, and it poses no threat.
