POLICE TRAIN KATSINA GUARD OFFICERS, PATROL IN PUBLIC SAFETY
The Katsina State Police Command has started extensive training to strengthen its patrol and guard personnel’ operational skills and advance public safety and security,
This was said by Mr. Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, the state’s police commissioner, during the program’s opening in Katsina on Monday.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the goal of the exercise is to keep the cops in excellent enough shape to fight criminals successfully.
Abubakar-Musa noted that the only way to effectively battle crimes would be to provide police officers with the skills and information they need to carry out their duties.
According to him, the training addressed a variety of subjects, including defensive driving, advanced weapon handling and tactics, vehicle management, and fundamental police roles and responsibilities.
He added that among other things, they covered crisis management, conflict resolution, and interpersonal and communication skills.
The CP emphasised the importance of training and retraining of police personnel amid security challenges.
“Officers must be equipped with the latest skills and knowledge to effectively respond to emerging security challenges and ensure protection of lives and property of the citizens of the state.
“The training programme is in line with the vision and mission of the Inspector-General of Police to ensure a professionally competent and service-driven police force.
“A professionally competent and service-driven police force that can respond to the changing dynamics of the security situation in the country”, he said.
He said that the command was still dedicated to giving its staff the best training possible and to guaranteeing the protection and safety of every citizen.
