LAGOS GOVERNMENT SHUTS DOWN 10 PROPERTIES FOR ENVIRONMENTAL VIOLATIONS
Ten houses in the state have been shut by the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency for allegedly breaking environmental laws.
This was revealed by Tokunbo Wahab, the Environment Commissioner, on Monday through X.com.
He claimed that the action demonstrated LASEPA’s dedication to creating a more sustainable and healthy environment for all Lagos residents.
Despite earlier agency notices, he continued, the establishments were closed for not meeting environmental criteria.
According to Wahab, the activities took place in the state’s Mushin, Okota, and Isolo regions during the last week. He also emphasized the impacted businesses and places of worship.
He wrote, “In a decisive move to combat noise pollution and other environmental violations, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) @LasepaOfficial during the week sealed several establishments across the state. The enforcement operation, which covered areas such as Mushin, Amuwo Odofin, and Okota Isolo, underscores LASEPA’s commitment to fostering a healthier and more sustainable environment for all Lagosians.”
“The sealed establishments, Daily Bakery, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Gak Universal Allied Limited, Ideal Standard, Franjane Royal Suites, Golden Haven Resort & Suites, Festival Hotel Conference Center & SPA, FS Service Centre, Moulin Rouge Ventures at Olivia Mall, were shut down for failing to comply with environmental standards despite receiving prior warnings from the agency.”
Wahab added that the operation demonstrated LASEPA’s unwavering commitment to respect environmental regulations and protect Lagos residents’ welfare.
“The agency assures the public of its continued efforts to create a cleaner, quieter, and more sustainable Lagos,” he concluded.
Similar actions were taken in November by the state administration, which sealed four locations throughout the state, including a church and a gas station.
