JUST IN: GUNMEN KILL BUSINESSWOMAN, CLERGY IN TARABA
In the Mayo Dasa neighbourhood of Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State, a businesswoman was murdered by a group of gunmen.
The incident happened on Friday, December 6, 2024, at around midnight.
In a phone interview with newsmen, Abdullahi Usman, the public relations officer for the Taraba State Police Command, affirmed this.
He claims that the gunmen broke the house’s windows with machetes as they broke into the premises.
“She was reading in her room, preparatory for an examination she was writing, and all of a sudden they opened fire on her, shot her at the back which penetrated and came out through the stomach,” he said.
”After breaking the windows, while in fear the occupants of the house stepped out to be whisked away and surprisingly they did not take anyone along with them.”
He said that no pin was removed by the gunman.
The police spokesperson stated that the second incident took place in Jalingo’s Jerbanbur neighbourhood.
Similar to that, the gunmen fired on the clergyman and fled without stealing anything from his home or capturing any of the other residents.
The two victims died while being treated in their hospital beds, Usman disclosed.
He claimed that the incident was odd because the gunmen often abduct their victims and then demand ransom.
He claims that in order to identify the criminals behind the horrible crime, the police have already started a separate inquiry into the occurrence.
While condoling the family, the police encouraged them to seek solace in God as all hands will be on deck to unearth those behind the act.
