NEWS: ACCIDENT CLAIMS 5 LIVES IN IBADAN
In Ibadan, the capital of Oyo state, a fatal accident has left five people dead and one gravely injured.
A truck and a business Micra vehicle collided on Thursday night at around midnight on the Iwo Road Ojoo motorway.
Additionally, one individual was hurt in the mishap, while six others were recovered unharmed.
The 12 passengers involved suffered terrible injuries in the accident, which was caused by a route violation, according to a statement issued by the Oyo State Command of Road Safety.
The statement further stated that before the arrival of road safety officials, the injured individual had been transported by the police to a nearby hospital.
The five deceased have been taken to the mortuary, but the identities of the deaths have not yet been verified at the time this report was filled out.
The Oyo State Command of Road Safety, meanwhile, has reaffirmed the caution against speeding and violating the road.
The sector commander, Rosemary Alo noted that ” Motorists are always in a hurry thereby causing avoidable loss of lives.
“In areas where construction works are ongoing, commercial vehicle owners and other road users must adhere strictly to the diversions placed and ply the road with patience no matter the time of the day,” she said.
The release added that the accidented vehicles have been towed to Akobo Police station, to allow free flow of traffic along the general gas axis where the accident happened.
