The Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, has commended President Bola Tinubu for prioritizing infrastructural development, particularly in road infrastructure.
Umahi made this statement while receiving the Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination, Hajiya Hadiza Bala Usman, and her team in his office in Abuja yesterday. This was conveyed in a statement signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations of the Ministry, Mohammed A. Ahmed.
The Minister welcomed the monitoring team and explained the various processes involved in providing services to the public, from initiating projects and designing to costing, bidding, and the commencement of construction.
“Roads are a critical infrastructure that cannot be overlooked, as they serve all segments of society, from the rich to the poor, young and old,” Umahi said. He expressed gratitude to the President for making road infrastructure a key priority in the Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to enhance infrastructure and transportation as drivers of growth.
In response, the Presidential Special Adviser on Policy Coordination, Hajiya Usman, shared that her visit was to formally introduce her team, who will engage with the Ministry’s officials to monitor its performance in the first and second quarters of 2024. She also discussed ways to accelerate road projects to achieve the goals outlined in the Renewed Hope Deliverables.
Usman highlighted that the assessment by her team would begin in the coming week, in alignment with the administration’s eight approved priority areas.
