NIGERIAN CONSUL GENERAL PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR NOLLYWOOD FILM FESTIVAL GERMANY
The yearly Nollywood Film Festival Germany (NFFG) has the steadfast backing of Dr. Yakubu Dadu, Nigeria’s consul general in Germany.
Dadu also promised to assist the Nollywood Europe Golden Awards (NEGA) in the same spirit.
During a recent courtesy call by Isaac Izoya, the founder of Ehizoya Golden Entertainment, Dr. Dadu praised the long-standing initiatives to use Nollywood to promote Nigeria’s rich cultural legacy.
In his remarks, the Consul General highlighted the importance of cultural diplomacy, stating, “We rely on your experience and the support of Nigerians, especially around Frankfurt, to achieve success. We’re here to promote Nigeria’s rich culture in this part of the world. Culture is the driving force of tourism, and for over 22 years, you have led this effort through Nollywood events. I attended your recent festival and saw the strength of your team. We want to build on that foundation to make Nigeria proud.”
Dr. Dadu also affirmed his commitment to sustaining the Nigeria-German Street Carnival, a vibrant cultural initiative launched by his predecessor, Consul General Akande.
Reflecting on Akande’s contributions, he remarked, “He left big shoes to fill, but with the continued collaboration of the Nigerian community, we will uphold and build upon his legacy.”
Izoya recognized Dr. Dadu’s active involvement in the just-concluded two-day NFFG and NEGA events during the visit, which had a big influence on the Nigerian community in Germany.
“You’ve already started on a positive path by attending our recent Nollywood Film Festival and personally addressing attendees—a gesture that deeply resonated with the Nigerian communities across Germany and was widely shared online. We are committed to helping you succeed, especially if you uphold the open-door policy Your Excellency promised us during your speech at the festival.”
