TG/PS DISTRICT II CELEBRATES NIGERIA’S BEST JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL, LAGOS’ BEST TEACHER
It was a day of jubilation at the Eva Adelaja Schools complex as Mrs. Anike Adekanye, the Tutor General/Permanent Secretary (TG/PS) of Education District II, led a delegation of directors to honor two remarkable achievements in the district.
Eva Adelaja Junior Secondary School, Bariga, was celebrated for clinching the prestigious *President’s Award of Excellence* as the Best Junior Secondary School in Nigeria for 2024. The award was part of the World Teachers’ Day celebrations held on October 5 at Eagle Square, Abuja, under the theme, “Valuing Teachers’ Voices: Towards a New Social Contract for Education.”
The celebratory tour continued at Kosofe Senior College, Agboyi Ketu, where the TG/PS and her team applauded Mrs. Abidoye Aderonke Ibiyemi, who emerged as the Lagos State *Maltina Teacher of the Year*. Staff and students turned out en masse to celebrate the accomplishments.
Celebrating Excellence at Eva Adelaja
Speaking at the Eva Adelaja School Hall, Mrs. Adekanye praised the staff and students for their dedication, noting that the achievement underscores the success of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES Plus Agenda.
“Today is a special day for Education District II as we celebrate Eva Adelaja Junior Secondary School for being recognized as Nigeria’s Best Junior Secondary School,” she said. “This accomplishment is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and excellence fostered by the teaching and non-teaching staff.”
She also expressed gratitude to the Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat, and the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Ali-Balogun, for their unwavering support in advancing education in Lagos State.
The Principal of Eva Adelaja Junior Secondary School, Mrs. Buhari, thanked Mrs. Adekanye for her encouragement and support, crediting the success to the collective efforts of the staff and students.
Honoring Lagos’ Best Teacher
At Kosofe Senior College, Mrs. Adekanye praised Mrs. Abidoye for her hard work and excellence, which stood out among over 500 participants from both public and private schools.
“I am here to personally celebrate Mrs. Abidoye, who has consistently demonstrated excellence and dedication,” she said. “Her achievement as Lagos State’s *Maltina Teacher of the Year* is a shining example of what hard work and faith can accomplish.”
Mrs. Abidoye expressed gratitude to the TG/PS, her Principal, Mr. Razak Adejumo, and her colleagues for their unwavering support. She also acknowledged Governor Sanwo-Olu’s efforts in prioritizing quality education in Lagos State.
At both events, Mrs. Adekanye presented gifts to the honorees and encouraged all educators to emulate their dedication and strive for greater achievements. She emphasized the importance of sustained excellence in cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains.
