Senator Monday Okpebholo, the governor of Edo State, has officially opened the 4.7-kilometer Utteh Palace Road in Benin, keeping a campaign pledge to the local populace.

On Monday night, a significant infrastructure project in the Edo South Senatorial District was inaugurated with a flag-off ceremony.

Reiterating his dedication to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, Okpebholo promised to give road construction and other areas of the state first priority.

When finished, the road would connect Ikpoba-Okha and Uhunmwonde Local Government Areas, increasing accessibility and stimulating local economic activity, the governor emphasized.

“I was here about three months ago during my campaigns. At that time, the road was in a deplorable state, and I promised the community that when we came into government, we would fix it. Today, I am here to fulfill that promise,” Okpebholo said.

He added, “We are committed to keeping our word and ensuring that our people have a road they can be proud of. This project aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, and as his ‘children,’ we must deliver results that reflect his vision for development.”

Risen Fan, the contractor, promised to complete the project on time and to the highest possible standards.

“We are committed to working with the state government and the host community to complete this project promptly and to specification. This initiative will pave the way for further innovations and investments in agriculture, ICT, education, and healthcare,” he said.

The Secretary of the Utteh community, Lucky Asemota, expressed gratitude to the Governor for addressing the longstanding issue.

“We are happy that the Governor remembered us and has kept his campaign promise. This road will greatly benefit our residents and businesses,” Asemota stated.
