
SANWO-OLU URGES LAGOS LANDLORDS NOT TO HIKE RENTS AFTER ROAD PROJECT
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has urged landowners and landlords in the Ifako-Ijaye Local Government Area (LGA) to refrain from raising the rents of homes and businesses.
Sanwo-Olu made the plea on Monday during the opening of the Obawole/Iju-Ishaga and Abiola/Ajayi/Ogba roads.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), work on the 643-meter road started on October 24, 2022.
The 643-meter road with slip roads and a bridge connects a marsh belt strategically. Some people built a wooden bridge that people might pay to pass.
He claimed that the goal of his administration was to improve citizens’ quality of life by implementing worthwhile projects.
“I want to make an appeal to landlords and landowners, do not increase your rents and land, the essence of the infrastructure built is to bring relief to the people and not burden residents.
“Please do not increase property prices to enable the residents enjoy the benefits of putting up with years of poor environment. Kabiyesi, please this bridge is not meant for dropping trash.
“I am committed to addressing longstanding problems of communities including flooding and commuting,” Sanwo-Olu said.
In a similar vein, Mr. Olufemi Daramola, the Governor’s Special Advisor on Infrastructure, stated that the bridge and connection road’s completion showed the Sanwo-Olu administration’s dedication to initiating and completing projects for the public good.
The governor also officially opened the Alapere pedestrian bridge in Kosofe LGA, which was demolished by an articulated vehicle in December of last year, according to NAN.
