ADAMAWA INAUGURATES COMMITTEE TO ADDRESS INTER-LGA LAND ISSUES
A committee tasked with managing land disputes between LGAs and other boundary-related matters has been established by the Adamawa State Government.
The committee was established on Wednesday by the state deputy governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, who gave it instructions to record land-related issues in the appropriate councils.
The deputy governor called on the members of the committee, which includes representatives from all security agencies, traditional leaders, and community leaders, to guarantee amicable settlements of land disputes.
In addition, she said, safeguarding boundaries from invasion is essential for future generations’ use, aside from the interest in security in modern society.
She said, “Our land needs to be protected so that we can continue to benefit from the gift of God. Whenever you have issues with land, we should report to authorities and not take the law into our land.”
She specified that land matters must be documented, “so that those who will come after us, will have reason to continue on a clean slate.”
According to her, the committee’s inauguration is a call to serve the state, which is why it is necessary to be dedicated to resolving outstanding boundary issues and encouraging cooperation between border villages.
Mercy Dauda, the Permanent Secretary of the State Boundary Commission, had earlier stated that the occasion is a significant step in promoting unity, cooperation, and progress among the 21 LGAs in the state.
