
CRIME: POLICE ARREST TWO SUSPECTS WITH 25 STOLEN PHONES IN BORNO
The Borno State Police Command has arrested two suspects Ibrahim Abubako 18, and Ibrahim Mohammed 18 with 25 stolen phones.
A statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, on Wednesday, said the suspects have confessed to snatching the phones from members of the public.
The statement reads “On December 10, 2024, at about 1350hrs, the Borno State Police Command Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in a stop-and-search operation along Damboa Road Maiduguri, Intercepted two suspects, (1) Ibrahim Abubako 18yrs, and (2) Ibrahim Mohammed 18yrs, in a tricycle, in possession of 25 mobile phones of various models.”
He said the suspects confessed to operating in villages along the Borno-Adamawa borders.
“Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to snatching the phones from their owners in communities and villages along the Borno-Adamawa State border, which includes Mubi town, Tashan Alade, Miringa, Kwaya Kusar, and Biu Local Government Area
“The suspects have confessed to the crime and would be charged to court for prosecution after investigation.”.
According to him, efforts are currently underway to reunite the recovered phones with their rightful owners
Daso however reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and properties during the festive period.
“The command reaffirms its commitment to ensuring public safety, particularly during the upcoming Yuletide season.
“Members of the public are advised to remain mindful and vigilant of their surroundings, and report any suspicious activities within their domain”, he concluded.
