He said, “Many people, especially women, are developing mental disorders.
“One in every four Nigerians is developing mental disorders, and 90% of people that have mental problems will not get to see a professional like me. People take their mental problems to where? To the church. They take their mental problems to the traditional healers because they don’t want to be seen, because they don’t want to be seen to have mental disorders.
Coker, while speaking on causes of mental disorders, said, “When you have expectations and your expectations are not met, For example, some life events—the death of your husband—if you don’t have the support. Furthermore, she emphasized that the lack of awareness or timely intervention could lead to heightened stress, anxiety, and other health challenges, making it essential for women to seek proper medical support and maintain open conversations about their health during this transitional phase of life.
