KATSINA WOMAN RETURNS N748,320, RECEIVES N500,000 REWARD
On Tuesday, the Katsina government gave N500,000 to a woman named Malama Abdulkadir-Yanmama for giving the state back N748,320.
The federal government’s Home Grown School food program in the state was intended to receive the N748,320.
The award was given to the woman by Dr. Mudassir Nasir, Executive Director of the Katsina State Social Investment Programme Agency.
Nasir explained, “She told us that she received an alert with a narration titled payment for vendors who were providing primary school pupils with free food.
“The woman decided to come to our office because she was not on the register for vendors who provide food for our pupils and she was not part of such a programme.
“We requested for her bank statement and the office of the auditor-general verified that she was telling the truth.
“Therefore, Governor Dikko Radda directed that she should be appreciated with N500,000, honoured with a commendation letter and offer to participate in the next school feeding programme.”
Nasir stated that Radda was pleased with the woman’s integrity.
He encouraged others to follow her example.
In his comments, the state’s Auditor-General, Alhaji Anas Tukur-Abdulƙadir, also praised the woman, acknowledging that she deserved further recognition.
Responding, Abdulkadir-Yanmama said, “I knew that I had to return the money because it doesn’t belong to me.”
Abdulkadir-Yanmama also praised the governor and the KASIPA management for the support, recognition, and motivation they provided to her.
