SANWO-OLU CONGRATULATES WINNERS OF NMMA
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has congratulated the winners of the recently concluded Nigeria Media Merit Awards (NMMA), describing their success as a testament to hard work and dedication to the media profession.
He gave special recognition to Victor Oteri, a visually impaired broadcaster, for winning the Broadcaster of the Year Award. Sanwo-Olu praised Oteri, who serves as the Deputy Director of Programmes at Lagos Traffic Radio, for demonstrating that physical limitations do not define one’s abilities.
The Governor also lauded journalists from Lagos State-owned media outlets who won awards in various NMMA categories, as well as those nominated for the prestigious event, celebrating their contributions to the media landscape.
In a congratulatory message issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu commended the recipients for their dedication and professionalism, emphasizing that their recognition reflects their ongoing excellence as society’s mirror.
He reaffirmed Lagos State’s commitment to upholding press freedom, ensuring that the state remains a haven for media practitioners to perform their democratic duties without hindrance.
The Governor urged journalists to recommit themselves to courageous and impartial reporting, advising them to avoid spreading fake news, misinformation, and disinformation while maintaining the highest ethical standards.
