FUBARA APPROVES N100,000 CHRISTMAS BONUS FOR WORKERS, PENSIONERS
The Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has approved a Christmas bonus of N100,000 for workers, public servants, and pensioners in the state.
This approval was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday night by the State Head of Service, George Nweke, and sent to news outlets.
Nweke stated that the bonus is intended to help workers and others fulfil their Christmas obligations and that it will be implemented immediately.
The statement reads, “I wish to inform the general public that His Excellency Governor Siminalayi Fubara, in the spirit of the yuletide, has approved the sum of N100,000 for civil servants, public servants, and pensioners in Rivers State, to enable them to have a fulfilled Christmas celebration.
“The 2024 Christmas bonus will be given to workers in the various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, as well as pensioners in both the civil and public services.
“His Excellency approved this on Monday, 23 December 2024, and has directed its immediate implementation to ensure civil servants have a wonderful yuletide celebration.”
Nweke also stated that this is the second time during Governor Fubara’s administration that civil servants will receive a Christmas bonus of N100,000, an amount above the national minimum wage. It is also the first time that pensioners have been included.
“The N100,000 Christmas bonus for both civil and public servants, as well as pensioners, is part of Governor Fubara’s ‘Rivers First’ initiative, aimed at securing the well-being and happiness of Rivers people across various sectors of the economy,” the statement stated.
