LAGOS SANITATION CORPS STORMS IKOYI, VI, ARRESTS 49 MISCREANTS (PHOTOS)
The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, also known as KAI, during an overnight raid in Ikoyi and Victoria Island has arrested 49 people.
A statement issued on Tuesday by the Commissioner, Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, said the raid, which was conducted on Monday night, was aimed at improving security and maintaining order in the areas.
The patrols, which covered key areas such as Idowu Martins, Ozumba Mbadiwe, Akin Adesola, Samuel Manuwa, Muri Okunola, Ajose Adeogun, Lugard Avenue, and McDonald’s Road, yielded significant results, according to him.
The operation highlighted the ongoing efforts by LAGESC to ensure that Lagos remains a secure and orderly city for its inhabitants.
According to him, the 49 individuals arrested were involved in illicit activities during the operation.
“Over the course of the night, the dedicated operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) patrol team covered key areas including Idowu Martins, Ozumba Mbadiwe, Akin Adesola, Samuel Manuwa, Muri Okunola, Ajose Adeogun, Lugard Avenue, Macdonald Road, and other areas in Ikoyi and Victoria Island,” the statement partly read.
“The operation aimed to enhance security and maintain order across these neighbourhoods. In the course of the patrols, 49 miscreants and illegal street traders were apprehended, reinforcing our commitment to ensuring a safe and orderly environment for residents and businesses”, the commissioner added.
Wahab expressed optimism about the positive impact of the patrols, noting a return to normalcy in the affected areas.
