VIDEOS: OSIMHEN VISITS HOOD ‘OLUSOSUN’, DONATES TRICYCLES, FOOD ITEMS TO LAGOS COMMUNITY
Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker, Victor Osimhen, has spread Christmas cheer to his childhood community, Olusosun in Lagos, by distributing approximately 2,000 motor tricycles and food items to youths and mothers.
The 2023 African Footballer of the Year’s generous act follows similar charitable initiatives by his Super Eagles teammates, Alex Iwobi and Tolu Arokodare, who have also organized Christmas giveaways across Europe.
According to a post on TVC’s Facebook page, the distribution, which began in Lagos, is set to extend to Osimhen’s hometown in Benin, with plans to reach even more beneficiaries in the coming days.
The 25-year-old striker, currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, has been in electrifying form, scoring 12 goals and providing five assists in 15 appearances. Beyond his footballing achievements, Osimhen has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to giving back to his roots.
Meanwhile, Fulham midfielder Iwobi recently opened ‘AleXpress’ in Canning Town, his hometown in east London, where he distributed food items, including turkeys, to 100 families as part of Project 17.
“In the house I was raised in, my dad naturally just gave back. To people in Nigeria, to his family and even people in the street – he would just buy bottles of water and give them to neighbours,” Iwobi told BBC Sport Africa.
Genk striker, Arokodare has also joined the charitable train, partnering with Sint-Vincentius, a local charity in Genk, Belgium, to distribute food parcels to families in need during the festive period.
According to Belgian website tvl.be/nieuws, Arokodare and three other Genk teammates participated in preparing food parcels at Sint-Vincentius in Genk, an organisation that distributes 20 tonnes of food monthly.
