EKITI GUBER: FAYEMI BACKS OYEBANJI FOR SECOND TERM (VIDEOS)
Former Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has openly addressed the forthcoming governorship election in the state, breaking his silence on the matter.
Speaking during the All Progressives Congress (APC) end-of-year gathering at his Isan Ekiti residence on Thursday, Fayemi officially endorsed Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s bid for a second term in office.
While discussing party affairs, Fayemi revealed that the date for the 2026 Ekiti Gubernatorial Election would be announced in April 2025.
He also urged party members interested in contesting against the incumbent to declare their intentions and prepare for a fair competition.
Fayemi said, “I’m a democrat, so I can’t discourage anyone from contesting for the governorship ticket. Anybody who feels capable can contest.
“But what I’m saying is that as for me and my family, we are for Oyebanji’s second term.”
