The management of BUA Refinery and Petrochemicals has debunked claims that its Akwa Ibom refinery project, with a 200,000-barrels-per-day capacity, is 90% complete. In an official statement, the company urged the public to disregard the misleading reports, emphasizing that such information did not originate from BUA.

The company assured stakeholders that construction on the refinery is progressing steadily and remains on schedule. “Whilst the refinery is not at 90% completion, we are on track to meet our delivery timelines in collaboration with our partners,” the statement read. BUA described the project as a critical milestone in bolstering Nigeria’s refining capacity and energy security.

Additionally, BUA highlighted ongoing energy initiatives, including a mini-LNG plant and multiple hybrid power plants nationwide, aimed at expanding its over 1,000MW installed power generation capacity.

The company stressed its commitment to transparency, citing its track record of completing over 12 industrial projects worth $3.5 billion in the past decade. BUA urged the public to rely on verified updates from its official platforms to avoid misinformation.

Expressing gratitude for public interest in its projects, BUA reaffirmed its dedication to building a robust industrial and manufacturing base for a self-reliant Nigeria.
