‘EVERYBODY LOVES JENIFA’ BECOMES HIGHEST-GROSSING MOVIE OF ALL TIME
Award-winning actress Funke Akindele’s film “Everybody Loves Jenifa” has set a new record as the highest-grossing Nollywood movie ever, grossing an impressive N1.466 billion and still growing at the Nigerian box office.
This milestone further cements Akindele’s position as a leading figure in the Nigerian film industry, with her movies consistently topping the box office since 2020.
Akindele’s past films have also set record-breaking achievements.
Her 2020 film “Omo Ghetto: The Saga” grossed N636,129,120, while her 2021 film “Battle on Buka Street” earned N668,423,056.
Her 2023 film “A Tribe Called Judah” became the first Nollywood movie to cross the N1 billion mark, making N1,404,187,806.
“Everybody Loves Jenifa” is a spin-off of the popular Jenifa franchise, which has been entertaining audiences since 2008.
The film delves into new obstacles for the lead character, Jenifa, as she encounters a new competitor who jeopardizes her charity efforts and fame.
With a talented cast that includes Patience Ozukwor, Jide Kosoko, and Falz, it’s clear why the movie has struck a chord with audiences.
The distributor company, Filmone, wrote on Instagram: “RECORD BREAKER. Everybody Loves Jenifa has officially hit a historic 1.466 Billion Naira and counting at the box office, making it the highest-grossing film of all time!
“A massive THANK YOU to our incredible audiences in Nigeria and Ghana for making this dream a reality! Your support is everything. On to even greater heights! Still showing in cinemas near you—experience the magic on the big screen”.
