The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has announced that more than 14,000 individuals have benefited from its online Safeguarding and Child Protection course.
The Agency explained that this initiative is designed as a preventive measure, aiming to help parents safeguard their children from various forms of abuse, such as physical and sexual abuse, bullying, and other harmful behaviors. It also highlighted that teachers, counselors, first responders, and others are among the thousands who have participated in the course.
Additionally, the Agency emphasized that the course, which is led by experienced experts in child safeguarding, covers vital subjects such as understanding child rights, bullying and peer violence, managing challenging behavior, promoting positive discipline, and dealing with abuse disclosures. Participants will also gain insight into the socio-cultural factors that impact child protection in Nigeria.
