PICTORIAL: 11 INJURED IN LAGOS-IBADAN EXPRESSWAY ACCIDENT
At least 11 people sustained various injuries in a multi-vehicle accident along the interchange section of the lagos-ibadan expressway on saturday.
A statement signed by the spokesman of the ogun state traffic compliance and enforcement agency, babatunde akinbiyi, that the accident happened around 7:30 am.
Akinbiyi explained that the crash occurred when a mazda bus collided with a truck attempting to manoeuvre into the premises of a private company in the area.
He added that another Toyota Hiace bus that was coming behind also collided with the vehicles following a loss of control.
Akinbiyi said, “A serious crash involving a truck and 18-seater passenger bus at Cway junction some few meters after Heyden filling station, interchange.
“According to an eye witness, the driver of the Mack truck was trying to manoeuvre to Cway company and due to the inpatient and excessive speed of the Mazda bus, which led to the crash also affecting a Toyota hiace bus that lost control immediately the driver sighted the accident upfront.”
He noted that 21 people were involved in the crash while 11 people, comprising 8 males and three females, sustained injuries.
“The vehicles involved are a MAZDA bus with number plate SMK 554 YH, a MACK truck with number plate FNN 934 XA, and a TOYOTA Hiace bus with number plate kJA 995 XA.
“21 people were involved, including 12 adult males and nine adult females, while 11 people were injured,d including eight males and three females. The injured victims were taken to Idera Hospital at Shagamu by FRSC,” Akinbiyi concluded.
Emergency responders at the scene of the accident included trace personnel, federal road safety corps officials, and police officers.
