Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has extended his congratulations to billionaire industrialist and Chairman of Eleganza Group, Chief Rasaq Akanni Okoya, on the occasion of his 85th birthday.
The Governor described the prominent businessman and philanthropist, who turns 85 on Sunday, as a person worthy of celebration due to his unwavering dedication and significant contributions to the economy and the well-being of many Nigerians, especially in Lagos State where his numerous companies are based.
In a statement released on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted that Chief Okoya, the Aare of Lagos, has played a key role in boosting Nigeria’s economy, creating employment opportunities for many Nigerians, and expanding his investments into other African markets.
He said: “On behalf of my family, the government, and the people of Lagos State, I join family, friends and business associates to celebrate the Chairman of the Eleganza Group and the RAO Property Investment Company, Chief Rasaq Akanni Okoya, on his 85th birthday celebration. He is one of Nigeria’s business magnates and philanthropists that are impacting lives positively.
“The Aare of Lagos is a generous man who has given hope through philanthropic gestures to the less privileged in the society. He has given scholarships to many people, particularly the young people, to further their education and also provided funds to many people to start small businesses.
“I wish Chief Okoya the best on his 85th birthday. I pray that God will grant him a longer life, strength, and sound health to continue to continuously enjoy the dividends of his long years of investment.”
