The Lagos State Government has mandated that all unregistered and unapproved private schools in the state must immediately register with the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA).

The directive was issued by the Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun, as part of the state’s initiative to ensure all educational institutions below the tertiary level meet established standards and deliver quality education.

During a recent address at the OEQA office in Alausa, Ikeja, the Coordinating Director, Mr. Remi Abdul, clarified that registration is compulsory for all private schools, and non-compliance could lead to penalties.

Abdul emphasized that the rapid increase in private schools in the state makes it essential to have accurate registration and documentation to facilitate effective oversight and intervention.

He reassured that the Lagos State Government is committed to ensuring quality education for all students, and the registration of private schools is a vital part of achieving this objective.
