Read Time:1 Minute, 2 Second

A three-member car theft ring has been apprehended by the Ondo State police following their involvement in stealing vehicles in the area.

According to the state’s Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Afolabi, the suspects—Temidayo Folajimi, Rotimi Akinsanoye, and Waheed Adekanmbi—would dismantle the stolen cars before selling the parts as scrap.

Afolabi explained that after stealing the cars, Akinsanoye, who possesses the master key, would deliver the vehicles to Folajimi, who would then sell them to an auto parts dealer in Owode Onirin. Adekanmbi would then dismantle the cars into various parts.

The Commissioner confirmed that the stolen vehicles included a Toyota Camry, a Honda CRV, two Toyota Corollas (2003 and 2005 models), and two other Toyota Corollas.

At present, two of the stolen vehicles have been recovered, while five others have been stripped and sold as spare parts.

The police boss said, “During interrogation, Rotimi confessed that he is the mastermind behind most vehicles stolen and confessed to having moved a total of seven vehicles out of the state.

“Also, Waheed Adekanbi, ‘m,’ age 51 years, is in custody, helping the police with necessary information needed to confirm the veracity of the claim that the remaining vehicles have been destroyed and sold as spare parts.”
