HOSPITAL WORKER COMMITS SUICIDE IN OGUN
Tragedy struck at the Federal Medical Centre in Abeokuta, Ogun State, when Oluwaseyi Adeniji, a staff member of the Audit Department, reportedly took his own life by jumping into a well.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening, shortly after dinner. Although the exact motive behind Adeniji’s actions is unclear, sources suggest that he had been struggling with mental health issues and had previously sought treatment.
The hospital’s Public Relations Head, Dr. Segun Orisajo, confirmed the incident, describing it as a questionable circumstance.
Orisajo said that the news of the demise of Adeniji was shocking to the hospital community.
He said, “The sudden death of Mr Adeniji Oluwaseun under a questionable circumstance was a painful loss to the Federal Medical Centre Idi-Aba, Abeokuta.
“He was a dedicated, loyal and hardworking staff. I must stress that his death was a shock to the hospital community because there were no obvious signs that we were going to miss him so soon because he was at work almost the whole of last week.
“The Medical Director, Prof Adewale Musa-Olomu, has extended his heartfelt condolences to his family, his department and the hospital at large. May the good Lord console his family at this trying period.”
As of the time of filing this report, the spokesperson for the state police command, CSP Omolola Odutola, had not yet responded to the enquiries sent to her WhatsApp.
