ARABIC TEACHER JAILED 21 YEARS FOR DEFILEMENT OF 13-YEAR-OLD PUPIL IN LAGOS
On Tuesday, January 14, 2025, Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court Judge Rahman Oshodi found an Arabic teacher, Oladosu Sakiru, guilty of defiling a 13-year-old student and sentenced him to 21 years in prison.
His name is going to be added to Lagos State’s Sexual Offenders Register.
After Sakiru entered a guilty plea to the revised two counts of attempted sexual assault by penetration and indecent treatment of a child, the trial judge, Justice Rahman Oshodi, punished him.
Oshodi said “As an imam and an Arabic school teacher, you occupy a position of significant trust, that trust extended not only to the 13-year-old child, the one you victimised but also to her parents and the entire community who look to you for spiritual and moral guidance.”
According to the prosecution, the offenses were against Sections 135 and 262 of the Lagos State 2015 Criminal Laws.
