MAN BEHEADS, BURIES FATHER IN ABIA STATE
In Umuomei community, in the Obingwa council area of Abia state, a man named Ogeoma Ogbonna decapitated his father, Azubuike Ogbonna.
Before the neighbours were aware of the tragedy, it was gathered that Ogeoma had dug a hole and buried the severed head after decapitating his father.
Supporters flocked to the compound, expressing horror at what would have caused Ogeoma to kill his father, while the father’s body lay in a pool of blood.
Ogeoma, a palm cutter, has been exhibiting symptoms of mental illness and has been threatening to hurt people, according to community sources who spoke to Vanguard.
Before carrying out the heinous deed a few hours later, he was accused of having threatened to kill his father.
“Ogeoma has been showing signs of mental illness. He was always threatening to harm people. But nobody in this community knew that he will get to the extent of cutting off his father’s head.
“We are still in shock on how he could kill his father. Before neighbors were called in to see what happened, he had already buried the head in a shallow grave in the compound. He took people and showed them the grave,” a native of the community, said.
As at the time of filing this report, Police Public Relations Officer,Abia State Command, ASP Maureen Chinaka, did not respond to calls and a text message sent to her mobile number.
