Bandits have launched a devastating attack on Akansan Garmadi, Rumaya Community, in Kaduna State, killing 27-year-old Piti Ezekiel and abducting five others.

The victims taken by the bandits have been identified as Afiniki Baban Gida, 46, Afiniki Timothy, 41, Talatu Timothy, 40, Manayi Abu, 36, and Richard Dalhatu, 42.

According to reports, the bandits invaded the village on Thursday around 10:30 pm, shooting sporadically and taking advantage of their vantage position. One person, Piti Ezekiel, lost his life in the attack.

Mr. Timothy Daure, a 48-year-old traditional title holder, survived the attack with a gunshot injury. The incident has sparked concerns about the growing insecurity in the region.

Kauru Local Government Area had, in recent times, become the hotbed of insecurity crippling the economic activities of the locals, with many households displaced.

“This is the first time our community has been attacked, causing nightmare to our people, the Government must act fast before these terrorists sacked the whole of Kauru communities.

“It has been one form of attack, from different communities, and nothing much is been done from the side of the Government to curtail the activities of these criminals.

“There’s a need for strong military operations to flush out these bandits in their camps,” Katuka stated.

Many locals in Kauru communities have been deserted because of the activities of these bandits, with many residents abandoning their farm produce for fear of being attacked or kidnapped.

” Communities are ready to give all the necessary support that will help address the security challenges in Kauru communities,” Katuka added.

The Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mansir Hassan, could not be reached as of the time of filing this report.
