POLICE ARREST TWO FOR STEALING ITEMS WORTH N800K IN OGUN

The Ogun State police have apprehended two suspects, one for stealing goods worth N800,000 and the other for purchasing the stolen items.

The suspects, 21-year-old Ayomide Damilare and Emmanuel Kostad, were arrested in the Sagamu area of the state.

Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola stated on Monday that the arrests were made on Friday after Kolawole Oke filed a report, claiming that several items, including a block moulding machine, two metal tables, a rammer, and nine pressers, worth N800,000, had been stolen from his site.

She stated that during interrogation, Emmanuel confessed to having bought the stolen items from Ayomide.

Odutola said: “At about 1 pm, one Kolawole Oke, male, came to the station and reported that his block moulding machine, two metal tables, a rammer, and nine pressers, valued at eight hundred thousand naira only, were stolen from his site.

“Upon discreet investigation, the moulding machine, two metal tables, and one rammer were recovered from Emmanuel Kostad, male, who confessed that he bought the items from one Ayomide Damilare, male, 21 years old.”

She stated that after a thorough investigation, the case would be taken to court.

In another incident, Tunde Adebanjo was arrested for attempting to rob a woman named Rachel Babalola in the Ota area of the state.

Odutola explained that the suspect, a resident of the Iyana-Iyasi community, was caught around 6:30 am by local residents and handed over to the authorities after a locally made pistol and a Techno phone were found in his possession.

The investigation revealed that the recovered Techno phone belonged to the victim, and further searches of his apartment led to the discovery of additional stolen items.

Odutola added that during questioning, the suspect admitted to being a robber and that the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department.
