Filmmaker Mary Remmy Njoku has joined the growing online backlash against Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia, also known as 2Face or 2Baba, following his divorce announcement.
2Baba caused a stir on the internet when he revealed his official separation from his wife, Annie Idibia, after years of a turbulent marriage. He shared that they had been living apart for some time.
After initially posting that his account had been hacked, 2Baba later posted a video confirming the separation, clarifying that all statements made on his page were indeed from him and not the result of hacking.
Reacting to the news, Mary Remmy Njoku criticized 2Baba for publicly shaming his wife.
Without holding back, the mother of three expressed that she considered herself part of Annie Idibia’s family and criticized 2Baba for choosing to humiliate his wife during a vulnerable time in her life.
While condemning his actions, Mary Remmy Njoku warned him to be ready for questions when the time comes, expressing that Annie has a large family who has remained silent out of respect for her difficult decisions. However, now that he has chosen to publicly attack her, she stated that they would have many questions for him later.
September 2021, Annie Idibia publicly accused 2Face of continuing a sexual relationship with his baby mama, Pero Adeniyi, and of being mistreated by his family despite being legally married to him.
In response to her post, 2Baba’s younger brother, Charles Idibia, defended the family, stating that they had never mistreated Annie. He also revealed that his brother was unhappy in his marriage and struggling emotionally, and he challenged Annie to publicly explain how she had been mistreated.
