Troops from the 1 Brigade, part of Operation FANSAN YANMA, alongside the Department of State Services (DSS), have successfully intercepted a weapons shipment believed to be intended for terrorist groups in Zamfara State.

The operation took place between January 26 and 27, following reliable intelligence about arms dealers operating from Niger Republic. Acting on this tip-off, the troops launched a secret mission to track the suspects.

The interception happened on the Kaura Namoda-Zurmi Road, where the suspects tried to escape by veering their vehicle into the bush.

After a brief confrontation with the troops, the suspects abandoned their vehicle and fled on foot.

Upon searching the vehicle, security forces discovered a large quantity of weapons, including two PKT machine guns, nine AK-47 rifles, 13 magazines, 171 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and nine rounds of PKT ammunition.
