LAGOS’LL CONTINUOUSLY PARTNER FRANCE ON AGRICULTURE, PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION, SAYS SANWO-OLU
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State stated on Wednesday that his administration remains committed to strengthening its partnership with France in agriculture, public transportation, and other key sectors.
He emphasized that Lagos will take necessary steps to enhance its mutually beneficial relationship with France.
Sanwo-Olu made these remarks during a visit from the French Ambassador to Nigeria, Marc Fonbaustier, at the Lagos House in Marina.
He said: “We have had extensive, tremendous support and a very wonderful relationship with the French Government, the French Embassy, and the Consul-General in my almost six years in government. And every successive Ambassador and Consul-General has had a pretty unique relationship with Lagos, and we are excited for that. We believe that in your time as Ambassador, you will grow the relationship further.
“Lagos is important to France, and there are few things that we are doing together in agriculture, public transportation, and water transportation. We will fashion out how to improve the mutually beneficial relationship, even as a subnational that we are, as compared to both sovereign in France and Nigeria.
“We will continue to let the relationship grow and blossom, and whatever it requires of us to do to improve, enhance, and increase that relationship, we are here to do that.”
Earlier, Ambassador Marc Fonbaustier praised Governor Sanwo-Olu, calling him “a driving force and an inspirational leader” for his governance in Lagos State. He acknowledged that the Governor is steering the state in the right direction.
Fonbaustier stated that his visit aimed to strengthen the existing partnership between Lagos and France while also initiating more ambitious projects, reflecting their confidence in the state’s potential.
