ARMED MEN KILL ONE, ABDUCT FOUR IN PLATEAU COMMUNITY
Tragic events occurred in the Shendai hamlet in Plateau State’s Quaanpan Local Government Area when four people were kidnapped and one person was slain in an attack.
According to information obtained, the incident happened on Saturday, leaving the locals shocked and terrified.
Reports state that after storming their victims’ home, the kidnappers shot and killed one person before capturing four others.
In a statement issued Monday, his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Danaan Sylvanus, confirmed the attack on behalf of Christopher Manship, the Chairman of Quaan-Pan Local Government Area.
The chairman demanded the release of those who had been kidnapped and voiced alarm about the rising number of kidnappings and other criminal activity in the region.
“The Executive Chairman of QuaanPan Local Government Council, Christopher Audu Manship, is condoling with the people of the Shendai community in Namu over the death of one person and is calling on security agencies to ensure the safe release of the abducted victims,” the statement read.

In addition to pledging to work with security services to enable the swift and secure rescue of the kidnapped victims, the council chairman reiterated his administration’s commitment to guaranteeing the safety and security of all citizens.
The statement also revealed that in order to better understand the tragedy and its aftermath, the chairman has set out on a fact-finding tour to the impacted areas with security personnel under the command of Lt. Col. Ogunrinde Soji and his team.
He claimed that the council head, who was accompanied by four Namu District council members, the DPO of the Namu Police Division, and senior local government representatives, examined the impacted villages and the security situation on the ground during the visit.
In addition, he offered consolation and assurance to the relatives of the victims who had been kidnapped and the families of the deceased.
Lt. Col. Soji reaffirmed the military’s commitment to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the event, free the kidnapped victims, and guarantee the safety and security of the impacted communities, the statement continued.
